heavy duty f-n-r switch
I bought a used 1995 club car that someone has started upgrading then burnt the f-n-r switch up. cart hasn't moved in over a year. it has an 400 amp axe contoller and heavy duty solenoid already, the cables are 4ga. but i am replacing with 4ga welding cables. I am not familiar with club car, i need to know what f-n-r switch to get? is the heavy duty club car good enough or is there one better? any info on the plum quick f-n-r switch? any help would be greatly appreciated

Re: heavy duty f-n-r switch
Check with forum sponsors for correct HD F&R control. Most HD American made controls will do very well unless the cart has extream add ons ( way larger diameter tires, high motor HP or multi speed, strange extra battery wiring that hits F&R with higher voltage, Towing heavy loads, and many other things that put way above HD loads )? The AXE4844 400 amp controller is not that much higher than stock 250-275 amp so I would look for any reason that F&R burned up rather than just maybe a old unit already damaged just to keep from burning up a new HD unit?

Re: heavy duty f-n-r switch
I believe the cause was that they used a 4ga battery wire with a 3/8 lug instead of 5/16. the cable was arcing the cooper connector. I am replacing the cables with the correct ones.

Re: heavy duty f-n-r switch
Yes any arcing can cause damage and extreem heat so unless you find some thing else you should be alright. Does your cart have a 250 amp fuse between pack and solenoid to protect system? Also on solenoid do you have pre charge resistor across large post and a diode across the small posts with color band toward plus input side of solenoid?

Re: heavy duty f-n-r switch
The standard 36v CC F&R is much more capable of handling the loads associated with upgrades than the stock 48v unit.

Re: heavy duty f-n-r switch
Old mec, yes it has the 250 amp fuse and the diode is in place, Scotty B, so should i order a regular 36 volt switch or the heavy duty 48volt
