Oh, no way is it going to a dealer. I was just saying that it seemed like that's what they want me to do. The nuts came right off the tie rod ends on the Marathon and nothing turned. I've taken tie rods off other things and never had this before. I'll get it eventually. Thanks for the help.

coosa.....as it was mentioned earlier, the tie-rod is "wedged" in.....and in your case its slipping. I'm sire you have already put some penetrating oil on it (WD) of some kind....

NOW believe it or not.....try to TIGHTEN it.....to reseat the tie-rod so it won't turn, then carefully attempt to loosen it. Its worth a shot.....its worked for me before.

LOL, I've got a sawsall, believe it or not.

And you shamed me into going to town and buying an impact wrench. I still had to lay the steering unit on a concrete floor and put all the force I could on it before it finally budged.

Thanks to all for the help.

I'm sure you had a great since of accomplishment. And I hope you whipped the heck out of that nut with a BFH. It deserved it.

Put the spindle back on the cart so you can use the weight of the cart to hold it from spinning. Once the cart is back together, use a jack under the tie rod to put pressure up. Tap down on the arm of the spindle with a hammer to help re-seat the taper. Now take off the nut.
