Default Super duty solenoid voltage

Curious. I am looking at buying the 400MZJ super duty solenoid from ScottyB.
I am curious though, it says it works on 36 or 48 volt. But, it shows 36 volt, 48 volt, or 36-48 volt. I am 36 volt right now, but am upgrading next year to 48 volt. Is there one that will do both? Is it a resistor or something to use one with both voltages?

I am running one right now.....and I am at 36v., I will be jumping up to 48v when I upgrade my pack. as far as the solenoid goes, you will need to change the Resistor to a 470 ohm. if you are getting it from Scotty, for 36v it will have a 220 ohm on it....just tell him you will be upgrading and ask him to include the 470 ohm resistor for when you upgrade.

I used it at 36v for ~ 8 months and 48v for the last year and a half. Compared to the stocker, it is large and manly. You will like it.

The coil of the 36-48 volt solenoid Scotty sells, will close its contacts with 36V, 42V or 48V applied.

The 250Ω or 470Ω resistor has nothing to do with the voltage needed to close the solenoid's contacts. Entirely different circuit.
It is called the Pre-Charge resistor and its function is keeping the filter capacitors in the controller charged while the solenoid contacts are open.

The Super-Duty solenoid I have was used at 36V originally, is used at 42V now and will be used at 48V if I go to 48V when I replace my 42V battery pack. The XCT controller I have does not use a Pre-Charge resistor, but the DCX controllers I previous ran did.

Order the 36 to 48V solenoid if you plan to run 36V now and up the pack voltage at a later date.
$6.00 more expensive now, but $69.00 cheaper later.

I'm working on 1993 Western (EZGO System) and in process of upgrading to 48 volt, but Controller #s have been obliterated so can't find out model, voltage, amps, etc. It was a 42 volt (7 - 6 volt batteries), but I have heard Western/EZGO used 36 volt Curtis controllers some times . What will 48 volts do to the controller and I am assuming the original 36 volt resistor it has is OK?

This solenoid will operate on 36, 42, or 48 volts.
There are 2 size resistors available.
Use 250Ω for 36 and 42 volts. (36v)
Use 470Ω for 48v (48v)

If it is a 36v controller it will not like 48v. It may last 6 months or it may last a nano-second, no telling. But I have found 48v controllers in 42v carts. This is the proper application not 36v. The only thing you risk is not having a used control to sell if you do have to upgrade....

Scotty - Thanks I will most likely replace before it vaporizes.
