Default Steering column swap.

Has anyone here swapped a newer [ds] rack and pinion steering column into an older ['81] cart? Have a chance to buy a carcass and the column and frond end look good. Not sure if the mounting on my frame has everything to mount the column. Any help would be appreciated.

I find it hard to believe no one out there has tried to swap a rack and pinion steering column into a pre 82 cart? Really?

just cut the frame off right behind all the front end /spring bracket sandwich deal , I have never even seen one pre rack so no idea but if the frames are similar I don't see why not...

Thanks ever so much for the reply. I was starting to think I was talking to myself! My plans were to buy a new shock tower with the bracket for the rack and put in an a arm lift kit. My query is, does the "rack column" bolt in place [more or less] of the ross gear column? I build stuff on the farm frequently but haven't bought the spool gun [or the argon tank, ouch!] for my welder yet.

To finish this thread, [I hate threads that go nowhere], yes a steering column from rack cart will bolt right in. Especially if you get the column support bracket with it. The shock and upper control arm bracket is a simple swap too! A BIG THANKS to Jrdale08 for setting me up with all the parts including the rack and drag link in like new condition! So now my 81 is officially a resto-mod.
