Re: 14mph lifted and Upgrades Normal Speed?
This may just be a throttle input problem. I have the 0-5k pot on the cart and the controller is set to this setting. The led is solid green and suppose to turn yellow at full throttle. but it turns red like its a LED Alarm, But the strange thing is it doesn't blink green or red like something is wrong or unhooked.
I rode it with the seat off and with the pedal fully pressed its still green, so I reached down and manually moved the pot arm and the controller led turned red instead of yellow and kept going. |

Re: 14mph lifted and Upgrades Normal Speed?
I am seeing about 16-17 mph out of a similar setup.
1990 Marathon All stock driveline 36v (New, not yet broken in batteries) 23 in tires and lift Looking for 22+ mph. What if i upgraded to the Alltrax 400 AMP controller and added two batteries to increase voltage to 48?? Let us know how performance changes when you change to the low pro tires - I'm considering doing the same. |

Re: 14mph lifted and Upgrades Normal Speed?
If the stock speed of a Marathon with a stock controller and stock height (18") tires is 14 MPH, going to 25" tires will increase the speed to 19.5 MPH mathematically, but the change in the final drive ratio will also reduce the torque were rubber meets road by about 30%, so the cart won't go nearly that fast with a stock motor.
Changing from a stock (275A) controller to a 400A controller, does increase torque, but only in the motor's low RPM spectrum and a cart's top speed is determined by the motor's high RPM spectrum. Ironically, the cart may be faster with smaller diameter tires, but probably won't reach 20 MPH. A different motor and a higher voltage battery pack is needed. |

You're expecting a lot out of a 2 HP motor.

Re: 14mph lifted and Upgrades Normal Speed?
I have a 93 Marathon that will do 26 mph with upgraded 2ga cables, PQ motor, 500 amp controller, 22" tires, HD F/R switch and 48 volt. All of the upgrades gave more or less incremental increases in speed but the biggest change came from going to 48 volt.
It did about 11-12mph originally. |

Re: 14mph lifted and Upgrades Normal Speed?
Something isnt right........
Charger could be one thing. Charged the batteries last night and I'm reading this morning 6.3 6.3 6.3 6.3 6.2 6.2. Those two could be my weakest links however i still think a worn out pack should perform better to say these batteries aren't a year old. Took it for a spin just a minute ago and its maxed out at 12mph per gps on my phone. Ill try and post the wiring later this weekend with everything but it seems that I should be doing better than that. I'm not looking for a speed demon with the mud tires but I want it to go if need be. |
