Re: Work/Hunt Cart
Setting aside speed and other voltage related stuff, you can get more range out of a 7 x 6V battery pack than you can get out of a 6 x 8V battery pack.
Range is based on how many kWh (kilo-Watt-hours) you are storing in your battery pack. Using nominal voltage and AH at the 20hr rate, the max you can get with six of the highest AH 8V batteries typically used in golf carts (Trojan Ranger 160 8V @ 204AH) is 9.792kWH and the max you can get with seven of the highest AH 6V batteries typical used in golf carts (Trojan T-145 6V @ 260AH) is 10.920kWh. Those are the highest AH batteries and highest priced. Comparing the batteries more commonly used would be: Seven T-105 (6V @ 225AH) for 9.450kWH Six t-875 (8V @ 170AH) for 8.160kWh. (This combination has roughly the same range as a typical 36V pack) When I upgraded my battery pack, I was looking for range rather than speed or torque and wanted to keep everything under the seat also. Using seven 6V-245AH for 10.290kWh gave me the range I was looking for. |
