This is to prevent charging if the batteries had been frozen, but of course, if you batteries froze then you don't really love your cart. The fact that daroosta25 asked the question to begin with is a fine example of cart parenting.

My cart lives outside and my charger is tucked under the frame rail of my 5th wheel.

It warms my heart when I walk past my DPI charger when it's freezing outside and I can hear it humming away. In the float charge mode.
