Default Marathon Front axle

After straightening the front axle, trying different wheel spacers and longer 19” front springs off an older Marathon I’m still having issues with the tire tread catching the front springs and creating an unwanted E-brake at full turn. Not a fun scenario at full speed.

I’m looking at adding some sort of steering stop, a simple nut and bolt somewhere if possible. Any suggestions? Also, is the front axle supposed to have a section cut out as pictured or was this thing hacked on?

It’s a 1996 XT500 Turf Vehicle (Marathon) according to the serial no. With 4” block lift and 22-11-12 tires. Seems they have no offset but too little spacer and Ebrake, too much spacer and fender rub comes into effect. Seems I’m limited on Marathon lift options.

Thanks for reading

Default Re: Marathon Front axle

I have the cut-out also and its a 6" lifted cart
.
Lots of ways to do it but a lot depends on how "your" able to do it
(personal sticky)
.
1) you can only do bolt on type assembly's (no metal fabrication type equipment at all)
.
2) you can do simple flat strap/angle iron and round/box tubing type assembly's and know where to get the materials needed . And you have drill motor / sawzall / hacksaw / grinders / vise / (but ... No Welding ... or real metal fabrication type equipment).
.
3) you can Cut / Bend / and Weld , and have the equipment . know where to get the materials , and you can figure out and fabricate most of the basic kind of metal work
.
4) you are a very experienced fabricator and can Mig/Tig/Arc weld and have all the equipment and just looking for some more ideas
.
5) you Cant or don't want to do the work ... But' you know where to have just about anything fabricated or repaired and just looking for some more ideas to help explain what you want made or repaired .
.
