96 DS -After hitting a bump, no click when I push the pedal
So, I gave my 96 DS to my mom. My nieces were riding it the other day through the woods and apparently hit a bump pretty hard on "accident". The result is that the cart now has zero throttle response. The solenoid does not click. I have not been able to put my hands on the cart yet, but will start troubleshooting it this afternoon. Where would you start?

Re: 96 DS -After hitting a bump, no click when I push the pedal
Check to see if you hear the micro-switch click by the pedal. (You may have an old pot box or V-glide.) If you take your DVM and go to the solenoid, look for 48v across the 2 small post. If you do not have 48v, we will need to do some more testing to see if you have lost the Pos or Neg permissives....

I would check the batteries first, if they were not well secured you could have a damaged post or a blown fuse from a short circuit.

Re: 96 DS -After hitting a bump, no click when I push the pedal
I put a digital voltage display meter on the dash before I gave it to her. Per my dad, the voltage looks good and the cart seems to charge fine via a DPI Gen 4 charger. I will look at the batteries though. I am pretty sure that one of the battery holders is missing.

And there is no main fuse on your DS as the Precedent's have, but these is a fuse on "some" '96 DS's in the red wire from the solenoid to the OBC power supply (I have one and there is no fuse) and the other two are the sense wire and charge receptacle fuses, of the which neither will effect the solenoid.

Did you check the throttle linkage?

Do you have the v-glide or a pot box underneath?

Re: 96 DS -After hitting a bump, no click when I push the pedal
(Cart jacked up, key On, FNR Lever in Fwd, and pedal depressed)
Take your DVM and run the red probe to the Main Pack Pos and then the black probe to the small post with the yellow wire on it. (small post - not the big post with the yellow cable) and see if you get pack voltage (If not, the OBC is bad and you lost the Neg). If so, move your black probe over to the Main Pack Neg and the red probe to the other small post on the solenoid which also has a small red wire and white wire w/black trace. With the key On, FNR in Fwd and Go Pedal depressed, you should get pack voltage (If not, you lost one of those positive inputs). Let us know what you find.... |

Re: 96 DS -After hitting a bump, no click when I push the pedal
Finally had to go get the cart and bring it home to work on it. Started with the solenoid. While connected, I got full pack charge across the small posts when the pedal was depressed but no click. When I disconnected everything, there was no continuity between the two small posts. That would indicate that the solenoid has gone Tango Uniform, correct?
