Resistor to Solid State conversion advice needed. I am an electrician and maintenance technician.

Advice as to brand and type will be greatly appreciated.

The cart is 1988 DS 36V V Glide single solenoid resister type with body removed at the moment.

Look at site sponsor "Revolution Golf Cars" there you will find all the resources and quality parts you need for this upgrade.

Revolution is a great place to get your parts. Also Scotty at cartsunlimited.net has full upgrade kits that make it really easy!

I have an 88 CC DS that I converted to solid state. I used a kit from Scotty B at carts unlimited. I converted to 48V, 2 AWG wires, and also upgraded the motor to an Admiral A1, and could not be happier!

I would highly recommend carts unlimited for the conversion kit.

Thanks to all. Found this 2 part series on You Tube as helpful for a solid state 48 Volt conversion w/out changing motor. The Grok Shop

My V Glide is rotten so will get another but wondered about the resistors on the one in video? Advise? Will check carts unlimited as well, which kit did you all use avinzant?

I have a 1990 CC DS that I converted with a C54 kit from ScottyB. It comes with an electronic pedal so you could get rid of the VGlide. I have complete instructions on wiring this if you need. Make sure you get the HD F/R contactor and 2GA cables. You won't regret. You can build your own cables but do so with welding cable. One note about the electronic pedal: after installing, you will have to manually release the parking brake. Pressing the accelerator pedal will not release the brake. I like the conversion I did because I ran 36V until the batteries died and then I converted to Lithium at 58.4V. Still running the same 36V stock motor and getting about 24MPH.

I used the C54 kit w/ option 1. I ran the stock 36V motor at 48V for about a year before I upgraded the motor. It ran about 25mph that way. Now the speed is about the same, just a ton more torque with the Admiral motor.

Like the others have said, it comes with an electronic pedal so you don't have to worry about the v-glide / resistors.

Here's a couple of pics while I was building it.
