Re: break ajduster
I guess I will have to take the adjuster out and just adjust them manually every so often.

Re: break ajduster
My suggestions would be...make shure the brake cable is not binding. I've seen the adjuster's "bind" in the backing plate where they should "slide"/have some movement (you know, years of water/dirt/brake dust and rust). I'd say take it apart and clean/lube the adjuster assy and make shure the adjuster wheel and threaded bolt are not damaged. Good luck.

Re: break ajduster
Thanks, everything looks like it was recently replaced and is clean. I took the drum off and when I activate the brake lever by hand the adjuster turns the star wheel one click . I realize if the drum was on and the brake shoes were adjusted correctly, then the lever would not have to move so far and therefore would not have to turn the starwheel that far. Am I correct on this? But, why do they get too tight? I have never had drum brakes work like they were supposed too.

Re: break ajduster
I'm still thinking binding adjuster assy on backing plate. I could be wrong...Joyce tells me I am "ALL" the time
