Default G9 Main Jet Question

Hello guys,

I was wondering if anyone has a part number or some type of cross reference for a .042" main jet? I have been having trouble with the local (2) Yamaha dealers in my area when I try to get golf cart parts. I have become pretty savy with Yamaha's website and I even bring in the part numbers for what I need to buy. Most of the time, they look at me with a blank stare and tell me the parts are not available or they are some type of obscure model specific part that is no longer made. (Getting frustrating.)

The need for the jet is because I am trying to replace the stock airbox with a K&N universal filter on my G9. There are no Yamaha Golf Cart dealers near by, and I suspect that the parts avaiability problems are from Yamaha Motorcycle dealers not knowing how to get them.

I realize that the stock air box is the best to use. Also, I am aware that the stock main jet can be drilled out. But, I would like to keep the stock main jet just in case I find a good airbox in the future. (I looked up the part numbers for the airbox, brought them in to the Yamaha dealer, was told they weren't available, then checked with site sponsers, no luck there, then posted a WTB, no luck there, and so on.)

Never done this, but you might try mikini web sight,(carb. brand). Or Tom at CCP for air box parts and jet. Or Smallblock I bet will help you.
Once you venture from stock, you won't go back, throttle responce is much improved!
With a K&N, you might end up with an .046 anyway.

.046 is what worked best for me when I had the stock engine and k&n. I bought an extra stock jet and kept increasing the size with reamers until it ran right.

Hello,
I purchased a complete used carb as a spare and I plan to do exactly what you did. I will drill out a stock jet starting small and work my way up until the air/fuel mixture is correct.

Hopefully, the carb shows up soon so I can put this beast to bed!
It is amazing how much progress this cart project has had in just a short amount of time. Thanks for all the help.

I think near anything other than stock for an airbox you will have to richen it. The stock box is to make it quiet, even taking off just the silencer part can make it run bad. I just took the carb off cleaned it and reamed it with a torch tip cleaner. Drove it around and just popped the bowl off and took the jet out right on the cart, made it larger each time until it ran good. I still have the stock box but most parts are gone off it. Thinking its time for 16hp now instead, lol. I always wanted to put a car airbox in with the big flat airfilter they are $8 and flow a ton of air.
