Thanks for the info guys... Sounds like you might have nailed it right on the head. Long story short, I cobbed mounting it with self tappers in the same location as the stock one and noticed it was a little loose when I got it back in the garage. If it's that finicky, I think I'll explore remounting it elsewhere where it has a thicker heat sink.. 1989, I'm in glen, just outside fultonville. How bout you? Thanks for the info, I'll keep you updated

With the HEI installed, you can open the gap up to .045"
I'm at the south end of Canandaigua Lake.

Ok, I'm at a loss now... Replaced the ignition control module and still have no spark. Rechecked the pulsar coil at 146 ohms, and the coil at .7ohms. I've got 12v on the yellow wire going to the module, and the green wire at the coil. Good continuity to ground at the coil mount, and the ignition module, and good continuity on the orange from the module to the coil. New spark plug wire is reading 3730 ohms (18" wire). Any ideas of what I might be missing or ways to check the ignition control module for function? Thanks in advance

Have it mounted to a piece of aluminum now as a heat sink

What is the resistance from the cylinder head to battery negative?
Also, you will likely have to swap the red and blue wires coming from the pulser.

And yes, they are switched at the pulsar connector.
