Please verify my wiring skills
I purchased this turn signal kit:
http://www.everythingcarts.com/p-128...universal.aspx The first picture below is the schematic I used for my cart's wiring. The second picture is a schematic I received with the turn signal kit. The third picture is a wiring diagram I drew from conclusions I made from the two schematics. Could someone with much more experience than I kindly double check my work before I go hooking this thing up and possibly frying something? The red wire coming from the turn signal switch states it should go to the brake lights. I see the brown wire connected to the wiring harness does in fact go to the brake light switch, but I'm unsure if this is going to be needed or not? Thank you in advance for any help anyone may have to offer. For some reason it took me a very long time to envision this wiring and I just want to be extra careful. |

Well, that means I'll either come back with beautiful pictures of wires on fire , or blinking lights. |

Re: Please verify my wiring skills
I am in no way a wiring guru, but since you are wiring up your cart to be "streetable".
the middle and right hand diagram looks right.....and according to the notes on the one in the middle, YES you will need the red wire coming from the TS switch to the BROWN wire in the connector to the brake light switch. That is if you actually have a brake switch....which you will need to have brake lights, otherwise you will just have tail (running) lights and the red wire from the TS switch isn't needed. |

Re: Please verify my wiring skills
your wiring is correct for cart w/o brake lights .. as stated if you put in a brake light switch it would tie in to red wire in ts switch

Re: Please verify my wiring skills
Well that didn't work?
As soon as I connected the power wire to the flasher the charge indicator came on and went to 36V? I quickly unplugged it and am baffled, looking at prints, as to how that could have happened? I have the negative terminal removed from the first battery. So at best it should have only shown 12V, right? |

Re: Please verify my wiring skills
some where you crossed the 12v+ with a 36v+ wire .. meter should be from 36v positive on battery pack and 36v negative on pack the ground can be the same as the 12v ground

Re: Please verify my wiring skills
Thanks. But here is the thing, I have the negative leads completely removed from the #1 battery, as is suggested by the safety sections of the manual, so there is no way 36V can flow through the system. The only leads connected are between the two batteries that supply 12 volts. Also, my batts are only half charged and when I reconnect everything up "correctly" and remove the turn signal unit from the system it reads half way as it should? Strange?
I also have the run/tow switch in tow as suggest by many of the safety sections of the manuals. I'm inspecting everything thoroughly now to make sure I didn't overlook anything that the previous owner may have tinkered with. Everything looks completely stock, but that's no guarantee I suppose. I was told that it is a factory stock cart and that's what I wanted to avoid any surprises. |
