Club Car Precedent Brake line Corroding
Hello,
I have a Club Car Onward, it’s been sitting in my mostly air tight, air conditioned garage for a few months now with out moving. I’ve noticed the brake lines right before they go into the drum it has been corroding heavily with battery acid I believe (pictured below, pic may be sideways). It also did this a couple months earlier when I would leave it outside for a month (I live in Puerto Rico, everything here rusts because I’m close to the water but the way). The batteries also were filled before I put it away and they have been dropping a lot of acid on the ground too and lightly sweating even when I unplug it (no I did not top off the batteries to the rim) even though the garage is generally cool). Any possible issue ideas or suggestions would be great! Thank you |

Re: Club Car Precedent Brake line Corroding
I have one battery that boils over when charging and runs down into the cart. I cut a dense sponge (no not my brother in law)into strips and lay them along the battery caps. Usually I get four or five charges out of them before I have to replace.

Ok, thanks, I’ll can try that, but my main concern is the brake lines, if you could look at the attachment.

It's important to only add water to batteries when they are fully charged. The level rises during charging. You can clean the acid damage and scrub it with baking soda. Then spray it with a light oil or corrosion inhibitor.

Ok, yes I did follow those guidelines, but my main concern is the brake lines, if you could look at the attachment.

Clean it up and give it a good look. IT may not be that bad if it's mostly the outer jacket that is pitted.

If it is hard to reach the area, I have used a diet lemon line soda to clean the acid scale on many auto battery posts and run.down. Pour it on and the scale fizzes away. Great for tight spots and cracks. Your lines could be OK as it takes more. battery acid to effect metal and rubber versus like cloth.
