The manual calls for 30wt motor oil, some guys use 80-90wt gear oil and others use synthetic... I'd say any good clean oil will do with the relatively light loads and slow speeds involved. I like to put a little STP oil additive in mine so the lube sticks to the gears, then there is oil on the top gears even after she has sat for a day or two.
