Default 2009 GAS RXV Break pedal failure issue

Hi there. I have just bought 2009 GAS RXV. 401cc. 13.5 HP cart.

I have worked out (thanks to this Forum) that the clutch was original and that this was recalled. I have a Team clutch on order and have also bought some cosmetic bits and pieces to rejeuvinate the cart.

I live in an island community overseas with just 500 carts on the roads. My local cart mechanic winced when he saw the cart I had bought, telling me that these are plagued with break pedal failure issues and telling me that he personally fixed up my very cart a few years ago after it had been in a major accident due to break pedal failure. He then gave me a list of all the people on the island with this model of cart who had experienced the same problem. The island's management stopped importing this cart after 1-2 years and switched to Yamaha.

My mechanic's English isn't perfect, but he pointed to the area of the pedal that tends to fail. Picture attached.

Is this a known issue with this cart and is there a good replacement pedal that would be fairly straightforward to install?

Many thanks, Peter

Hope someone can help, I read here that they used a steel pin through aluminum that
corrodes on the gas peddle, sticks wide open, maybe that's the brake problem?

Could be. Hope someone can help. All I know from my Mechanic is that brakes failed on previous owner (on the road) and landed him in hospital. I'd rather buy a new and improved pedal assembly than try to fix it with a new pin.

Found this in EZGO shop. https://shop.ezgo.com/products/RXV-E...-Assembly.html

Does anyone know if this is an improvement from a safety standpoint? Or is it just the same item?

Also wondering if this brake problem on RXVs isn't an electric cart only problem,
from what I read the electrics have a "motor brake" on the motor.

Might do some searching, looks like a common problem on electrics.

It's definitely a gas problem too based on failures in my community. I need a solution for my gas cart if possible.

OK, I'm closer to fixing the problem. Looks like the part number on carts in our community is 604990. I can see that this was replaced with 610687. It then appears to have been replaced again with 626150-B65 or just 626150. 626150 is available on Amazon, but the description isn't 100% clear that it's compatible with my cart. Can anyone confirm this before I press the buy button?
