Perfect. What do I fill them with? Do I top them all the way up?

Use distilled water ONLY. Add to 1/8 to a 1/4 inch above the plates. You need room for the acid to expand while charging.

Center two are filled and charging. I'll pull one in the morning and get it load tested.

Yep. F-1.

So, If I read your post right that puts the MFG date at June 2011?

That's somewhat encouraging. The code on the positive was D-24 or D-22.... my memory is horrible. Does that mean anything?

D-24 assembled April 24. The other code is fill date.

So I charged a pair of them overnight, about 10 hours. Pulled one and took it to my local battery shop.

I watched the guy hook it up, it read 5.5v. Then he turns the load knob super quick, unhooks it and says: "you need new batteries".

Then proceeds to tell me the code on the Neg terminal means 2001 not 2011 and these batteries are super old.

Now, I have dealt with this shop for a number of years, and they usually treat me good, but I'm a touch skeptical at the moment.

I brought it home, and hooked it back up to the charger by itself on the 6v setting. Now I'm not sure what to do.
