Default Really slow to start 88 marathon

I've got a 88 marathon with a new starter, sparkplug and battery. It is super slow to start everytime it just turns over once stops and then tries again for about 2-3 minutes before it starts spinning over constantly then I have to play with the choke till it starts and then It runs great. I've already cleaned up all the wire connections and replaced the broken ground strap and positive battery cable. What do I need to do to get it to start up faster? Also anywhere to get a replacement gas tank I cracked mine last night

Are you saying it turns over slow ?
You can order gas tanks online from numerous places including eBay .

Is the battery testing good at around 12v?

Check the battery voltage while trying to start the engine to see how low the voltage is going. A fully charged 12v battery should have 12.6 volts at rest..
