Education on a 89 Gasser
I have an 89 gas Ezgo that keeps burning out the solenoids, this last time I checked all the wiring in the cart and its correct according to the wiring diagram listed on here . My question when I was checking voltage I placed my clip on the positive post of the battery then on the main solenoid wires I had ground on the large wire that goes to starter gen. and on the small positive post ..this would turn on my test light ...in theory I should only be able to light up the test light when touching the small post on the negative side of the solenoid.....and by the way when I put a new solenoid on the cart starts up and runs fine ...but not sold on the fact that something is hinky here ...

Re: Education on a 89 Gasser
Are you using continuous duty golf cart solenoids?
Car starter solenoids will burn up fast. You provided + power by connecting to the battery, and a ground by connecting to the starter side of the solenoid. That is working properly. As for the small positive terminal. Your keyswitch, and pedal switch were in the open position. No power was coming through. That means you connected power to ground through the solenoid coil. That is correct too. It also means that your solenoid coil has continuity, and is not burned up. |
