Advice needed
Have a 97 Club Car DS, need to know opinions if it's worth money time etc. customizing the way I'd like or if I should buy a newer model cart. Will be used for beach campground type area, possibly some road use. I'm due for a new set of batteries so that would also be a factor. love the customized carts and don't know a whole lot other than reading up like on the forum here. Any and all advice would be appreciated!

Re: Advice needed
I prefer older carts myself. It depends on your personal preference and what overall condition your cart is in. If everything else is good and body is good then it's a good start. If you buy a set of good batteries and maintain them properly you can have a estimated 5-7 years out of them and concentrate on upgrading accessories, lift, tires etc. if you decide to go with a gas cart make sure your campground allows them. There are a lot of campgrounds that are only allowing electric carts now. I have a 2003 DS electric cart that I customized and really like it but I have a 1980 gas cart that I have to say is great not having to charge and is always ready to go. Just picked up a 1998 DS this week that is electric to leave stock and resell but now I might just upgrade and keep. Once you start it can become a addiction. Best of luck with your choice and keep us posted.

Re: Advice needed
About ten years ago my wife came home with a 2000 DS - 48V, and except for very minor service (a couple of cables and one F/T switch), the cart has been dead solid. During my son's high school days this cart saw plenty of use!

Re: Advice needed
I have a 97 DS cart too. It is a regen1 cart that I converted to a series. Runs great and was fun to convert. With what I spent on the upgrades I still couldn't have bought a cart to look like this for the price.

Re: Advice needed
I have yet to find a platform I like better than the DS. If your frame and body are in good shape then IMHO I don't see any reason to "upgrade" to something newer.

Re: Advice needed
Go for it! They make a great looking cart and are rock solid! Plenty of upgrades available for DS Club Car's. I haven't posted any pics of mine lately, but with all my upgrades it is a beast.

Re: Advice needed
I agree, I have a 2006 DS, and am currently building a 2008 DS.
Something classy and timeless about that body style. Lots of parts available as others have said, unless you need a wire harness LOL. Aflyer |

Re: Advice needed
Oh they're available, just not the one you ordered. There's three different harnesses that'll fit on your cart. I just got one Thursday.

Re: Advice needed
David,
I guess I should ask why the part number I have is the hard one to get? And what is the advantage if I keep waiting for that one? What are the advantages or disadvantages of the other two part numbers? George |
