Default 1988 marathon gx444 2 cycle

I found this sitting along the road. Been in shed for 10 years. New gas and battery and the **** thing started. Not sure the engine make. Needs new tires but it is all there down to the bag strap.
Want to fix it up. Diamond plate and all. Needs painted. Do I buy new plastic fender parts or not? Too many questions to ask. Starts in reverse but the key seems hot even without key. Please help. ..

Does it have a diamond plate body? If so, I believe that would be an industrial model.

if You're looking for the rubber fender trim (not the metal fenders themselves) an online search for "Marathon EZGO trim" should do ya - the 1988 444 was a special year for the old 2-strokes, it was the one year they installed the "High Output" Fuji-Robind 244cc engine which was a little over 2hp stronger than the standard 2PG motor (bigger carb and exhaust) so that's a good find for an older cart. With a mild lift and 22" tires that cart is capable of 23-24mph all day long and still will have plenty of "oomph" for the hills. FIRST thing to do is pull the factory oil injection system before You run it too much (especially given that it has been sitting that long) - then mix your gas at one ounce per gallon. Yes, that sounds like a very low ratio (144:1) but that really is factory spec and will keep your cart happy. When You pull the oiling system, just make sure You plug the hole that is left behind on the intake where the banjo bolt was otherwise You'll run WAY too lean if at all.

If You search "1988 EZGO" here on the forums there are plenty of threads dedicated to that specific cart

Thanks for the tips. We are running a canned fuel right now. Was told this will clean things up. Oil injection disconnected. Gonna run small tires for now. Lift later. Thanks again and can't wait to have fun with this new toy!
