Default 1986 EZGO Spark

I have a 1986 EZGO 2stroke with a robin engine in it not getting spark. This whole backwards wiring thing is terrible. Getting 12v to the coil but as soon as I hit the peddle the juice goes away and still (of course) no spark. I printed out all 144 pages of the manual but can't figure this thing out. Can someone lead me in the right direction please. I've replaced the pulsar, coil, and ignitor to no avail.

What do you mean by backwards wiring?

I would check that all of the grounds are clean.

The only parts of the ignition system you didn't change are the plug, and wire.

Sorry, I did change the plug and wire. By backwards I mean this entire machine is wired with pos battery terminal being grounded to the frame. I have absolutely no idea why its wired that way. I've only been trying to figure it out for about a month now...

Very simple, THAT'S WRONG.

You have the manual. Start with the positive battery post going to the large solenoid lug.
A small wire will also be attached to that same lug. That's the control circuit.

From there... Fuse, key switch, pedal switch, small terminal on solenoid, other small solenoid terminal to ground. The large lug on the bottom of the FnR switch is used to tie in all of the grounds.

The top right corner of this diagram shows the battery. The negative terminal is connected to An "E" that fell over. That is the symbol for ground. Every time you see it on the diagram, that signifies a ground point.

As I said earlier, most of the grounds are sent to the bottom lug of The FnR switch. A large wire goes from it to the frame, the engine, and the negative post of the battery.

Thanks Cart around! Finnally got back to it. This was the problem for no spark. The guy had the wires backwards because the color of the cables was wrong. Black pos and red neg...

Now she runs...however... in reverse she goes like hell, in forward she cuts out and seems to have very little power on the flats and slight incline. Thoughts?

I suspect that you will be needing advice on changing the crankshaft seals.

Running good in reverse, and lousy forward is a real good sign that the crankshaft seals are worn.
