Batteries dieing down without driving
my 88 resistor cart it has newer batteries and this weekend I went to drive it and it was so dead it wouldn't move. I charged it up and it was just as strong as it usually is with a full charge. Then throughout the day without driving the batteries kept getting lower and lower. They are almost all the way down again. It seems as if something is running?

Re: Barriers dieing down without driving
when's the last time you charged the batteries? you go down about 4% a day just sitting. might give it a good 12 hour charge and see how it does. if this doesn't help try cleaning and tightening all your connections.

Re: Batteries dieing down without driving
Sounds like your wiper arm is not returning to zero, like you have your foot on the pedal just a little, check it out

Re: Batteries dieing down without driving
Would it do that even when the key is off and in neutral?

Re: Batteries dieing down without driving
yes, I believe so.
Couple of simple tests you can do... drive the cart, release the peddle, stop. Take your foot off the gas, does the cart creep? Reach down and try to pull the gas peddle up, was there any movement in the peddle? |

Re: Batteries dieing down without driving
I am not sure but maybe scotty can help with this one, we used to test for a parasitic draw on automotive batteries might be some thing you can do on a cart too, we would take off the neg. battery cable and put a test light from neg cable to neg battery post and if it lit up something was drawing power from the battery that would at least tell you if something was draining your batteries. I guess you could just charge em up then disconnect them and see if they drained down in the morning and if they did than you know you have a battery problem if they didn't you know you have a electrical problem somewhere in the cart. the batteries are clean right??? ive seen old tractor batteries with so much dirt on them you could get a voltage reading off of the top of the battery.... hope im not just confusing the problem if i am just smack me

Re: Batteries dieing down without driving
That wiper board can cause all kinds of problems. do what northwest said with the test light to see if you have a draw on the batteries. then do as Scotty said to see if everything is lining up on your wiper board. My money is on Scotty.

Re: Batteries dieing down without driving
Look at the wiper. The contactor that moves across the other contacts should be sitting on the very bottom one. If it's sitting part way on the next one it will kill the batteries. Check the coils and see if they are getting warm. I beat they are. They shouldn't have any temperature at all to them.
