2002 PDS slugish and motor hotter than normal
I have a 2002 PDS cart with 22" tires, 4 gauge wiring and Alltrax 400 amp controller, heavy duty solenoid and stock motor. I modified this cart about 1 1/2 years a go and have 0 problems with it. I was riding it tonight and it felt slugish, I brought it home and checked all connections at the battery, controller and motor and they were all tight. But the motor was very hot, I checked the temp. and it was 225 degrees and I have never seen it go over 175 degrees before no matter how I ride it. I checked all the battery voltages and they were all 6.21 and I pushed the cart by hand to make sure the brakes were not dragging. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated wht might be causing the motor to get so hot.

The motor is 9 years old. It may just be getting tired!

Re: 2002 PDS slugish and motor hotter than normal
Is there anything else that could cause the motor to get hot than the motor itself? If it is the motor why would it get hot all of a sudden? Could it be a stuck brush or a bad bearing? I am a mechanically inclined person, is it worth taking a part and looking at it?

If you have the skill then yes anything can be possible. I would take some pictures of it and send them to PQ motors and see if they think it would be worth a rebuild.

Do any electric motor gurus know what might have caused it to get so hot?
