back in the game....finally
Ok guys/gals....I am a lifted cart owner again. I picked up my 2006 EZGO TXT this weekend. It has a lift on it with 22" Carlisle Strykers. I am now beginning the process of setting it up to sneak around my farm to get into my bowhunting spots.
That being said, can anyone give me the rundown on batteries....it has t-105's in it that I do not know the age of, but I did charge it up Saturday night and am in the process of seeing how long they hold up under my usage. Thanks for the help and I look forward to spending many hours on here again learning as much as I can and helping others when I know enough to offer help. |

The deeper you discharge your batteries before recharging, the shorter their life expectancy. Never discharge your batteries below 50%. Personally, I put my cart on charge every night and if I don't use it, it stays on charge. (I have an automatic cut-off charger) Scottyb has some great battery info on his website. Menu is on top left. http://www.cartsunlimited.net/ |

Re: back in the game....finally
Thanks. I just looked and I have 4 2006 batteries and 2 2007 batteries. I charged it up Saturday night and have done a fair amount of riding around since then with no noticeable decrease in charge as of yet, but being that they are four and five years old, I am going to drop the hammer on a set of new batteries. My main fear is that once the cold hits this winter, it might do them in.....???

Re: back in the game....finally
If you drop the hammer on a new set, be sure to break them in properly. (procedure on Sottyb's website)
He's also got a discharge depth vs life expectancy graph there at the bottom of one of the battery articles. Basically if you run them down low all the time, you get about 500 recharge cycle. If you keep them charged up near full all the time you get about 5,000. So the battery life varies from just a few years to over a decade depending on how you treat them. Don't know where you are, but if batteries are kept fully charged, they'll survive temps down to about -70F. |

Alright, my new batteries are installed and I am one full charge into the break in period.
