Batteries
Is there any truth to this?
Precedents from 2004 to 2009 have a weak point, the batteries tend to last only 2-3 years. |

Re: Batteries
In those years Club Car went with 4/12v batteries. Then they changed back to 6/8v for longer run-time and longer useful battery life.

Re: Batteries
That's correct. But for around $400-$500 bucks or so you can convert any Precedent to be able to use the 6 8V battery setup.

Re: Batteries
How is this? Is this cost on top of the cost of the 6 8V batteries? Is it as simple as buying 6 8V batteries and the appropriate wiring?

Re: Batteries
I believe there is a conversion kit for around $350. Then the cost of the (6) 8v batteries on top of that. So it seems the conversion would cost roughly the same as replacing just the (4) 12v batteries.

Re: Batteries
How much are 6 8V batts? Only ones I found online were same price as the 12V batts. I can get 4 12V batts (Trojan) for around $560 plus tax.

Re: Batteries
I can't speak to specific years, maybe someone else can, but the first thing I noticed on my 06 Precedent was that it had 08 batteries in it. At some point, CC or Trojan recalled the 12v batteries and replaced them with newer ones. Still, the 12v batteries don't have the longevity of the 8v batteries. However, I think with proper break-in and ongoing care, you can get more than 2 to 3 years out of them. Mine are date stamped from early 08, so they are already into their 4th year of service and still charge as expected and still giving me the runtimes I need between charges. If I thought I was going to keep my cart "forever", or if I weren't getting enough runtime on the 12v batts, I'd pony up the cash to convert them out. But, I see myself buying one more set of batteries, either way, and then probably trading out or selling the cart during the life of that next set. So, I'm leaving things as they are.

Re: Batteries
My '07 pecedent has the original club car batteries in it. My batts are about 80% strong. Yes, they were maintained exceptionally well I wish I knew what brand was in there so when I replace them, I can get the same ones.
If anybody knows who makes these batteries, please feel free to chime in. Thanks |

Re: Batteries
