Angry Need HELP. Only lights and horn works.

New BGW user here. Love this site. Before I begin I want to thank everyone for helping us dummies that don't know about these carts.

I just bought a 99 EZGO TXT Series. Cart doesn't do anything except honk and blink. I put a meter to battery after I charged each battery separately because charger wouldn't turn on and below is what I got . BTW, charger won't work until batteries are at what voltage?

Battery 1: 5.22 volts
Battery 2: 5.12 volts
Battery 3: 4.24 volts
Battery 4: 4.71 volts
Battery 5: 5.57 volts
Battery 6: 5.56 volts

Shouldn't charger kick in and charge batteries at this stage?

Is my issues batteries?

Those batteries are definately an issue. I believe a charger needs to read 22 volts to start (not possitive).

What does the total battery pack read? I know it sounds dumb (just add up each battery), but if you have a bad connection along the way it will matter.

I just went out and put positive on battery 1 and negative on battery 6 and it reads 30.7 volts. I tried 2 chargers and none turn on to charge.

Try reading the pack voltage at the charge receptacle on the cart so you see what the charger sees .... it should be high enough at 30v? Could be a bad connection at the charge receptacle.

When you plug the charger into the cart, the charger should click within 30 seconds. NO click = no charge.

99 TXT charger white connects to battery main + front battery on the passenger side. Charger black connects to battery main - rear battery under the passenger seat. The + and - connections are on the far side of the pack on the passenger side. Hope this helps.

It is true what they say about you. You are GOD. I don't know if you sent some positive spirits but I went out and plugged it ( charger) and it started charging. I have tried all day with no luck. I will advise tomorrow on progress as I do not even want to look at the cart or charger. You are the man. I will report tomorrow.

I dunno bout all that

But the TXT has a pr. connectors in the receptacle. They wear out and the connection can become intermittent. When this happens replace the 'radsoks' in the receptacle. See the pic below.

Excuse my ignorance as I am just ecstatic. The ammeter is at 16 and it now reads 40.9 v. Will ammeter go down or up while charging?

The charger will run three stages the first is the highest and the last is the lowest amperage.
