EZGO going off road..stock tires or aftermarket?
My friend has an ezgo and he wants to go to the atv park i ride my dirt bike at. He just wants to stay on the main roads (dirt & sand) and hang out.
Question....we have never took it out there and it has only been on streets but will the stock tires do ok in the dirt and sand or are after market tires a must. 2nd..if i do go aftermarket tires, all the off road ones say 9.5 wide but his stock tires are 8.5. will these work or do i have to go with 8.5? any recommendations on tires? He wants to spend as little as possible. Would adding chains to the tires help off road or be a waste of time. Thanks |

I've taken mine through some pretty rough terrain, but if you get stuck in the mud, stock tires have little traction. I've gone through some pretty think mud and never had a problem. I also used to climb up and down our lake ***, until the HOA locked the gate.

Stock cart tires will do just fine in dirt/sand. They will turn into a piece of glass in mud. No way to clean out the treads. I would probably be more concerned about ground clearance.

Someone censored the word "***"? Our lake is a State regulated flood control ***.

Try to find some used 18/9.50-8 Turf-Tires,such as Turf-Tamers.They will work alot better than your stockers, but are still friendly to your yard(at low-speeds)You should be able to locate some for under $60/pair in good condition. Also, check with local Lawn/Garden shops that have a "Bone-Yard" out-back,That may have some decent treaded/knobby tires that will work.I stuck a lawn/garden tire on my Wifes' cart and it goes thru quite a bit,as to the stock tire that wouldn't move on wet grass!
