I have a older ezgo 36v got it running.Seem to be doing good. Now when riding it will start dragging down and you hear a grinding you can back up and it will free up then you can go forward for awhile then it will do it again. Pulled rear end cover. Gears look good no metal in hog head. Does anyone have any though on it. could the motor be going bad??

Re: Motor or Rear end Problem
Might be wheel bearings or dragging brake shoes.
Also, is it a slow grinding sound or a fast grinding sound? (The motor spins 12.44 times every time the wheels rotate once.) |

Re: Motor or Rear end Problem
My guess it is the rear bearings like JohnnieB has stated, you will need to take wheels etc off to really see though.

Re: Motor or Rear end Problem
I only get to work on the cart on the weekends. Thanks for the in put. I got the cart to stop while on the jack stands. So reached back and the tires would spin free I had also backed the breaks all the way off. I pulled the motor and axle and had the motor tested at a elec motor shop they told me the motor is good. So i am thinking their is something wrong with the ring & pinon gear.

That's a roll of the dice and always easy to check, but seeing how you have already lined up a rear end replacement.................. my suggestions all might be for naught. Can I ask what you paid for a replacement rear axle assy? Keep us informed. |
