Default What year can the speed magnet be used on IQ carts?

What year is the beginning of the black IQ motors with the cup style speed sensors that can be sped up by magnet? Correct me if im wrong but the older grey IQ motors with the flat speed sensors have a permanently mounted magnet that cant be removed?

I am not sure about magnets, but I know the speedylink works for all IQ years, 2002-up.

The black motors first showed up in 2004. But that means nothing. The grey motors were used throughout the entire duration as well. It was a random draw on the assembly line and there's no way to tell which motor a cart would get/did get. The magnet on the grey motor is not permanently mounted, but it's mounted tightly around the shaft and can only be removed with disassembly of the motor. The black one is definitely easier to access.

I would just do a speed code 4, unless 20 mph is still to slow for you.

All black motors use the same cup style sensor and always have.
