Re: 98 cc ds
You guys are dangerous.
There is no way you can swap motors between a series and sepex drive system! EVER. |

Re: 98 cc ds
Thank you for that clarification ScottyB.
I was almost certain that was the case. |

Re: 98 cc ds
Settle down Scotty nobody said someone should use a sepex moter on a series cart, I was just speculating as to why the motor woukd not run on his cart. Maybe you could explain to us why it would not run?

Re: 98 cc ds
They are 2 different drive electrical drive systems.
The motors operate on different principals. Google how series drive motors work and how separately excited motors work and you come back and tell us why your speculation was incorrect. |

Re: 98 cc ds
Hey Scotty. Would it be better to convert the cart to a IQ cart or just install a series motor?

Re: 98 cc ds
Ok Scotty that is what I did. So, while the motor may run it probably will never run well in a series cart, mainly because the series controller will not excite the armature and field coils separately which is how speed is controlled on a shunt motor. That is why they are called separately excited motors because the armature and field coils are excited separately.

Re: 98 cc ds
No, I do not think the motor will run well at all.

Re: 98 cc ds
It will be far less costly to just put a series motor in the cart. I can't think of a good reason to convert this cart to an IQ cart. Keep it simple. Once you find the correct motor you will be motoring around in no time.

Re: 98 cc ds
Scotty, how hard is it to convert from I.Q. to series?
