1994 Resistor cart
My neighbor wants me to find him a cart to use around his property. Do you think this would fit the bill? I know these carts are not the most efficient, but I have heard they hardly ever break down. This cart only has one solenoid with a bank of resistor coils. I went and test drove it today, and it runs excellent and the battery compartment is very clean with no corrosion anywhere. It has a v-glide and a 2.97 HP special service CC motor. The batts are 2 year old Interstates. It comes with the Accu-Power automatic charger. Just let me know what you think...
Oh, and he said he would take $800. |

Re: 1994 Resistor cart
Yep buy it! If he wants more speed he will already have a CLEAN cart with a 36 volt motor.
Wish I could find another cheap cart! |

Re: 1994 Resistor cart
Buy it. I have the same cart, 1988. Never had any issues, just regular maintenance.

Re: 1994 Resistor cart
Ok guys, thanks. Keep up the opinions.
Question: Don't some resistor carts have 4 or 5 solenoids? This one just has 1. |

Re: 1994 Resistor cart
I have a 91 cart like this. Seems to run forever. Well never had any problems with keeping a charge. They do use more power at slow speeds ( due to the resistors burning off the power for slow) more than controller carts but that is it.

Re: 1994 Resistor cart
I don't see how a resistor cart can work with one solenoid. Something has to switch in the different coils to control the motor power.

Even if the resistors are inefficient, who cares if there is no range difference...right? I wonder if batteries have a shorter lifespan in a resistor cart??? |
