Admiral replacement motor wiring question
This might be dum, and the shop I bought the motor from doesn't open for 30 minutes!
Speed control wires - I could splice the three (red, black and green) from the motor into the harness (red, black and white), but they still wouldn't have anywhere to plug into... First things last, 04 PDS, Alltrax DCX 500. Replaced the motor, hooked up all the batteries, and no go. Controller doesn't even come on. Any input? |

Re: Admiral replacement motor wiring question
when you started the replacement process, before you disconnected a single wire/lead, did you flip the RUN/TOW switch to TOW first?

Re: Admiral replacement motor wiring question
Can't say positively, but more than likely. For arguments sake, say I didn't, then what?

Re: Admiral replacement motor wiring question
well, its possible that your killed the controller......there should be a BIG SIGN that tells people that you MUST but your cart in TOW prior to disconnecting ANYTHING or irreparable damage can occur.
I am sure that one of our experts will chime in shortly and ask a few questions to better diagnose your problem. |

Re: Admiral replacement motor wiring question
I'm usually pretty good about flipping that switch, so I don't think I fried anything, and I have in the past, so I'm familiar with the sights and sounds associated with it! Next things to check?

Re: Admiral replacement motor wiring question
with the key on, and in either F or R, when you press the pedal, does the solenoid "CLICK" OR activate?

If you have Run/Tow in Run, the reed switch is okay or bypassed, the key is ON and a direction is selected, the LED on the DCX should be on. If it isn't, check the voltage on pins 6, 9 & 10. It should be pack voltage and if the DCX isn't turning on, you are missing one of them, or it is bad. Which one is missing? |

Pin 6 isn't at pack voltage.

Re: Admiral replacement motor wiring question
Got it! Traced that wire, and found that I hadn't completely removed the diode. Thanks all! Off to work for a while, then tires and road test!
