Default 98 ezgo FR switch stays hot

Well, like a dummy I let the local cart guy talk me into another one of his used throwaway carts, this time an EZGO 98, and after running it a bit, noticed the FR switch gets very hot and stays super hot, finally had to disconnect the batteries to get it to cool down. Now I'm staring at the wiring diagram but not sure where to begin troubleshooting this new bad boy. the cart has rear lights installed, but not connected, so am about to pull out all the unnecessary wires. Its tough to follow all the wires to the motor without taking out all the batteries. Could use some help

if you really want to make it easy, so all you have is what you need. take the top off, then the seat or seats, then remove the body and cowl. NOW everything is easy to get at, AND it will run of need be, of course you will need something to sit on.

Ok, no worries on seeing the wiring, removed that body panel in the middle. Everything looks ok so far, what could cause the FR switch to build heat even when idle? 3 cables from the motor and one from the controller - what am I looking for???
