Quick answer, not much. I'm assuming a series motor?

While most folks will tell you a chain is only as strong as its weakest link, that ain't 100% true. However, in a series circuit, ALL "links" should be the same size, including battery interconnects.

Long answer: Weakest link in the chain. In a series circuit, we ain't really talking about failure modes are we?

Assumption: All cables are good. 25 feet of cables are 6 gauge. You have x Watts of heat dissipated due to resistance.

Let's replace half of that with 2 gauge cables. In a series circuit, are we not more efficient now?

If I had a series buggy with 25 feet of 6 gauge cables, and I just happened to have 8 or 10 feet of cable to double up, with no more money to invest, I would do it. It ain't ideal, but it won't hurt.

The more amps, the greater the increase.

Do it piece-meal. I'm a reformed government employee, and know how budgets work. "Solenoid failed. Now the motor failed. Now the cables failed. Now..."
