They do not come fully charged new. 48.2V is less than 50% charged....

Regardless, 48.2 is more than enough to kick the charger on

Have you checked the fuse in the yellow fuse holder behind the charger receptacle?

My batteries are not cart batteries per say, the are deep cycle gel and they come to us fully charged. When I installed them the pack was reading 51.3 volts.

Could the charger know the batteries are not flooded wet cell?

Glad you brought that up. It is my understanding that Gel cell batteries need a different kind of charger..something to do with the charging algorithm for the rate of charge, I don't think it would keep the charger from starting to charge though. In the beginning it just reads the voltage to start.

I agree, I think the gel batts need a different type of charger...

UPDATE
plugged in replacement charger and it kicked on in about 5 seconds. Jumped to about 12.5 amps at first (around 1pm) and now (5:30 pm) it's humming along at about 10 amps.
First hurdle crossed. Now to break these batteries in and see what they're capable off.
Thanks for all the input fellas.

Oh on a side note the lift kit and rims came in today! Now to find some free time
