Re: G29 Clutch Questions
" am looking at adding aftermarket spring to driven clutch , found blue spring with load rates of 120# / 225#.
Will this be too much spring rate for stock drive clutch , if so , will increasing drive clutch weights be the correct fix." If I may your opening sentence refers to two different clutches. and a stiffer spring in either one will have opposite results. I don't want to criticize but we often spend a lot of time because people use the wrong term when it comes to clutches. |

Re: G29 Clutch Questions
Sorry to not use the correct termonology , would you prefer" primary / secondary clutches" or " drive / driven clutches "
Sorry for not explaining this in a more detailed way :revised " am looking at adding aftermarket spring to secondary clutch , found blue spring with load rates of 120# / 225#. Will this be too much spring rate for stock primary clutch to work properly , if so , will increasing drive clutch weights be the correct fix." |

Re: G29 Clutch Questions
It would seem, from all of the feedback that I have gotten, that the original Team clutch set for the 2007-2012 Drive carts was problematic. There are all sorts of "bandaid" fixes for them that seem to work to one degree or another. Don Plowman fixed me up with a new secondary with stiffer spring and a new belt, and mine works well. The good news is that for 2014, Yamaha switched to a different type of clutch pair, which supposedly works MUCH better. The really good news is that these newer clutches will retrofit older Drive carts. So before you mess around trying to rebuild and modify the Team clutches, it might be a better route to look into upgrading to the newer clutch design.

Re: G29 Clutch Questions
Thanks Bagger , That sounds like a possible option. It really is going to boil down to cost

Re: G29 Clutch Questions
For most of us, cost is always a factor. But sometimes, paying a little more up front, is a better investment for the long haul. I only wish they had come out with the new clutch before I redid mine........

I would agree. Don is very easy to talk to, and will bend your ear with all sorts of great ideas, depending on how much you want to spend.
