Which Club Car to purchase to upgrade.
I currently have 96 Club Car (series motor) that I have upgraded the motor and controller. Runs about 25 mph on flat road.
I am looking for a newer Club Car to replace it. I want to be able to upgrade the new cart with motor and controller etc to run about the same speed as my old cart. Does it make any difference if the new (to me) cart is an IQ, i2, or Excel? Is one easier to upgrade than the others to get the speed I want? My preference would be a brand new i2 or Excel if I can upgrade the motor and controller to approx 24mph. Otherwise maybe the older IQ? Thanks in advance for the help. |

IQ..... Excel must be converted to IQ before you can upgrade it. i2 is a body style, not an electrical system. i2 refers to the 2nd generation Precedents with larger battery buckets capable of using 6X8V batteries. i2 has nothing to do with the drive system.

My old series Club Car cart was very easy to upgrade and performs very well. Only reason to change is to get the newer body style. Does anyone know if they are going to change the style anytime soon? |

You can't buy a new IQ. They quit using the system a few years ago. I don't expect a body change for quite some time. The DS ran for 24 years before the precedent came out.

However, web sites are not always accurate and in practice I bet you are right and the only thing available is the Excel electric system. I have not yet been to the local dealer to see what they have. Looks like I will need the IQ harness if I get a new cart. Thanks again for the info! |
