2007 yamaha YDRA build
Hello everyone. I am going to build an electric golf cart for hunting. I'll use this thread to post my progress. Does anyone have any experience with high amp controllers? I have a 2007 YDRA and I was told the controller was bad. I'm looking to lift this cart and put 23 inch tall tires on it. I am thinking I will need a bigger than stock controller. Also what's the best way to check the controller to see if its bad? Any help would be greatly appreciated. I am looking forward to this build and learning from the knowledgeable people on this forum. A little back ground on me I work part time at a golf course as a mechanic. I am new to being a mechanic so I am learning new stuff every day. Thanks in advance for your help

Re: 2007 yamaha YDRA build
YDRA = GAS. YDRE = ELECTRIC. Big amp controller will kill stock motor, but stock motor sucks anyway.

Re: 2007 yamaha YDRA build
It is a YDRE electric 48V. I just took the top off and back plastic to make it easier to work on. It look like stock motor and stock controller. Thanks for the heads up cgtech. Does anyone know what size the stock controller is? I may need to hold off on the motor for now. I'm going to need new batteries, controller, lift etc..

Re: 2007 yamaha YDRA build
ok thanks. I got on the D&D motor website and it said with a lifted cart and bigger tires I would need a 500 amp controller. I have seen some 300 and 400 amp as well. I think ill stay with the 500amp and possibly replace motor after a year or so.

Re: 2007 yamaha YDRA build
You are more confident in getting a year out of it than I am, in that configuration.
