G14 valve cover tube
I got Plowman's performance kit which had larger jets, new muffler ,new belt, spring and new sheaves. He told me to just take the outer cover off the filter. I ask him about putting a cone type filter on the carb. He said it might run too lean but I had to try it without the stock filter and canister . Cart runs much stronger with just a small cone filter on the carb. It runs great with no popping or backfiring with no filter too . Just tried that to see how it really ran like that .
My question is if I ran it with the cone type filter what do I do with the tube off the valve cover which goes to the filter canister . With the stock canister seems like the gases off the valve cover are sucked in the carb and burned . It is much louder with with a smaller filter over the stock setup tho. Seems like you can hear everytime it fires. |

Bama, If you run the open element filter, you have to read the plug and jet to the proper size.
Heard people put a plastic fuel filter in the end of the hose. Can't remember which end of the filter tho. |

Re: G14 valve cover tube
Mike I can't get an accurate plug reading as mine uses some oil so it won't turn brown. I put the stock canister back inline for now . Doesn't have near the pickup or power as without it. The jets plowman sent are larger than stock. I would attempt to drill out the stock jet if I knew just what size I needed.

Re: G14 valve cover tube
Mine is drilled out to .041. I have the stock air box void of all interior parts except the filter and foam. I drive from 1100 feet elevation to 7000'. Pictures in the G8 club somewhere.
If you drive dirt roads, there is an excessive amount of dust in the engine bay. That's why I keep the stock air box. The stock filter, filters better than the open element. Put a new plug in the car after warming it up. Drive for a 1000 feet, wide open throttle, but kill the ignition before you lift off the throttle. Let it cool for 15 min. then pull the new plug and see what it looks like. |

I'll give that a try Mac. What size in thousands do you think the stock jet is ? I may pull Plowmans out and see if it is bigger or smaller than .041. I don't know what his is just put them in and runs good.

Re: G14 valve cover tube
Did, he give you an idle jet as well? I used a set of torch tip cleaners. I found one that fit snug and then mic the tip cleaner to see what size it is. Make sence?
And I have no idea what size any of the jets are. |

Re: G14 valve cover tube
Yea I got both jets. I found a #59 drill bit which is .041 and a #58 which is .042. I may drill out the stock jet and compare it to plowmans to get an idea what his is . I also got one or two smaller drill bits to see what size the stock jet is just to be curious.

Re: G14 valve cover tube
Did you find a place to buy drill bits? Wish I could find a set of jet drills!
