Default Another "club car wont start after lift" thread

1991 gas Club Car carryall that ran fine before the lift but now nothing! I have 12+ volts at the battery, cant see any loose or disconnected ground wires, reverse buzzer works. I removed the key switch to replace it with a new one while I was installing my new dash, but I made certain to re-wire it exactly like it was. There is no noise whatsoever when I step on the gas pedal, no attempt to try to start. Anyone have any ideas on what it could be or what to check next? I don't know if it makes any difference, but the cart runs on propane.

Try putting the old switch back in. If it works then the new switch may be bad.

That’s the first thing I did and still nothing. I don’t know much about propane powered engines, but when I unhooked the tank there was a lot of propane in the line leading to the regulator, almost as though there was no propane getting through the regulator. How would I check to see if I’m getting a spark at the spark plug? Is it possible it won’t start because the regulator is bad or would it still try to start even though no “gas” is getting to the carb?

After looking over a wiring diagram I noticed a 10amp blade fuse in the electrical box I didn’t see before. I went to check it on the cart and sure enough, it was blown. I put in a new fuse and it fired right up!

Disconnect the battery negative cable before you go poking around behind the dash panel. When pulling the panel out, the wires on the switch hit the dash frame and will blow the fuse every time.

Something to check on, when I first lifted mine, the pulse line from the fuel pump was juuuuuuuust barely long enough to reach the nipple on the motor. Ran great for a couple miles, then I went over a bump and it pulled out, died once the carb ran out of gas. Took me poking around a minute, filling the tank with gas (it was pretty low anyway, so I just thought I ran it out of gas) before I noticed it dangling. Longer line on there now and been good ever since.

Just something to look for, in case someone else runs across it as well.

Make sure the carb is clean. Do a little adjustment to the governor, put a torque spring in the secondary clutch, and heavy duty drive belt.

If the clutch sheaves are wavy, replace the clutches. Worn clutches will affect your power at low RPMs and will eat up your belts, which then also affects power.
