Re: Picked up another Villager 8 today
Does this cart have front brakes? If so are the mechanical or hydraulic? The only way we wouldn't have a lift for this is if it has hydraulic front brakes.

I'm pretty sure it's mechanical, but I'll check for sure when I get back to the shop tomorrow. I found this one online a few days ago and inquired about fitting: http://www.golfcarttirestore.com/clcryal_trans.htm (8" lift w/heavy duty springs for $388.99) They just got back to me and said I'd have to remove the front brakes and rear sway bars. |

OK, its got mechanical brakes.
Test fitted the wheels/tires I got from my neighbor last Summer and they fit the bolt pattern just fine So, what are my options? |

Re: Picked up another Villager 8 today
I take it everywhere I go Perfect when I'm out doing field work Anyhoo, I was on the BU forum and someone suggested I might have an issue with the wheels due to the size and offset Took some quick measurements earlier today and here's what I came up with ~3.25" from the center hub to outer lip ~3" from the 2nd ridge to the outer lip Will this pose a clearance issue using an A-arm kit? Re: Picked up another Villager 8 today
OK, I had it narrowed down to 3 lift kits:
1) An 8" A-Arm Kit from the Golf Cart Tire Store: http://www.golfcarttirestore.com/clcryal_trans.htm 2) All Sports Super Sport 7.5" A-Arm kit: http://www.allsportsliftkits.com/ind...?page=BrandNew 3) Jake's 6" Spindle Kit: http://www.jakesliftkits.com/Products/clubcarLift.shtml I ended up ordering Jake's 6" spindle kit earlier today.... As much as I wanted a taller A-Arm kit, the fact that I'd be losing my front brakes didn't sit well with me I'll still be able to keep the front brakes with the spindle kit and the folks at Jake's assured me that the ductile iron used on their spindles will withstand the extreme weight of the cart The only issue I'm worried about right now is the wheel lip clearance on the spindle They said it may fit, but if it doesn't, it's nothing a spacer won't fix, so we'll see soon enough |

Re: Picked up another Villager 8 today
OK, the 6" Jake's kit arrived yesterday and I installed it earlier today.
I tackled the front end first and everything went together smoothly. My biggest concern was wheel clearance around the steering arm because I was told that I might need spacers, but they had room to spare... The rear turned out to be harder than I expected though Both front spring perch bolts had sleeves that were rusted solid and would just spin within the bushing, so I had to cut both of them out with a sawzall... The instructions say nothing about the rear sway bar, but it became pretty obvious that it had to go after I installed the spacers... Now, the height looks great, however, I have a couple of issues with the front end In the air, the tires have about 1/4" clearance when fully locked in either direction, but once on the ground, tires rub slightly when locked and it only gets worse when I add passengers (took a good chunk of rubber off on the first turn) Also, as you can see by the photos, I'm having some serious negative camber issues I shimmed the leafs with a couple of bolts and it helped reduce the rubbing a little, so I have a feeling I may need to upgrade to a heavy duty front spring, but I wanna hear what the folks at Jake's suggest first.... |

Looks good. Love lifted stretches. Once you get everything dialed in it will be sweet.

Re: Picked up another Villager 8 today
OK, looks like I got everything sorted out
Installed new clevis' on both sides and that helped a little with the camber on the passenger side, then I installed a new heavy duty leaf and that set the camber nicely on both sides, but I still had a problem with rubbing at full lock, so I installed Jake's extension kit and now she's good to go with clearance to spare |
