Low Battery volts while driving?
Melex 512E 2 hp GE motor 36 volt,Curtis 1204 ? I know this cart needs new battery's. Cart was sitting in shed for 2 years when I picked it up.During evaluation I found motor, controller, charger, brakes all function normal. I can drive the cart over a mile but the voltage drops to around 29 volts climbing the slight hill returning home. The voltage returns to 36.6 when I stop driving it. Can this low voltage, damage any components. The cart slows climbing hills. Ive seen posts (pro & con) but because I will be replacing the battery's soon can I get away with switching to a 48 volt battery pack now and then controller then motor later. I also noticed the Lestronic II 9700 charger was ending charge cycle at 44.5 pack voltage but each successive charge it cuts off at .1 volt less. Last charge cycle stopped at 44.0 volts I hope to lower this cart, and mount 12 inch ss112s with low profile tires. Thanks in advance for any responses. This is a series cart

Re: Low Battery volts while driving?
Voltage drop seems fine to me. These were always slow carts.
Normally the Lester will go until it hits 2.5v per cell (45v), mine goes to 2.6v per cell. Get out the hydrometer or a load tester and check those batts out, you may have a bad 1,2 or all. |
