Buzzing Charger
Just bought my first cart and it is a Melex 512. I drove home from the guy I bought it from (about 2.5 miles) and the lights are bright and it still had good speed. I think I'm in good shape there.
Reading on this forum it sounded like I should charge it after running this long (I think) The charger has a timer and I set it for 4 hours. I has a loud buzzing noise. Is that sound normal? The amps started at 20a and dropped to 16a after 15 minuts and now after 30 minuts it is at 13a and the sound got about half as loud. Does all this sound normal? |

Re: Buzzing Charger
After 2 hours it is at 4a and the buzzing got very loud again.
I had set it to 4 hours and it has 2 hours left. The charger says 4a is a full charge, is the extra 2 hours a good thing or is it overkill. If it is a good thing, should I go longer? The buzzing is normal???? Even the loud then quiet then loud again? Thanks for your help Sorry for sounding like an idiot |

Re: Buzzing Charger
I don't know if it is normal for it to buzz like that but my charger for my 212 has a loud buzz also.

Re: Buzzing Charger
If you press on the case in different areas does it buzz less. Could just be something loose inside the case or the case it's self.
By the way what model charger is it? http://www.buggiesgonewild.com/elect...ing-sound.html |

Re: Buzzing Charger
the buzzing is generally caused by the wire shielding in the transformer. all transformers will vibrate due to voltage flow through the windings. as a charger ages, the shielding starts to loosen from the wiring and buzzes as it vibrates against the other wires in the transformer. That will explain the buzzing frequency that changes as the load on the charger changes. nothing to worry about though, it looks like the charger is functioning properly, as long as you can stand the noise! Secondly you MAY be able to quiet it some by tightening the transformer housing bolts, if it has any...
