Default 1988 parcar crank, fuel, and spark but no start

New to the site and to golf carts.

I just picked up a 1988 Columbia parcar 2 stroke for a couple hundred bucks as is knowing it wasn't running. Brought it home put a fresh battery on, fresh fuel, turned the key, and hit the pedal. It cranked but no start. Checked for spark and found it. Check for fuel and there was nothing at the carb. Vacuum fuel pump was shot so I hooked up an electric and all is well. Still no start. Pulled carb and cleaned the hell out of it. Again no start but will run spraying starting fluid.

I have fuel at the carb. The carb is clean. Have spark. I later realize the carb is not delivering any fuel. I have never had a carb not deliver fuel like this. Is it a problem with the carb or do I not have enough vacuum to draw fuel/air in?

I do not have any experience with 2 stroke engines. Any thoughts, help, and comments would be greatly appreciated.

I checked the 89 and it has a float bowl carb. So... the float could be out of adjustment, the float valve stuck, the main jet stopped up. I suspect after setting idle for a while I would suspect the main jet but there are several things that could prevent fuel flow. Maybe the 88 has a float bowl carb too.

first thing is get rid of the starting fluid.
your better off using a spray bottled with a gas oil mix.
second do a compression test or pull the exhaust off and take a look at the rings. if you don't have a compression tester pull the spark plug and cover the hole with your thumb. turn the motor over using the starter and see if it is strong enough to blow your thumb off the hole

Thanks for the replies. Did get it started. It was the main jet. Anyway I installed a 18 HP briggs and stratton opposed twin. Welded up the spider gears . And am just waiting for the new clutch to come.
