YDRE goes into Reverse when in FWD

Sold a 2007 YDRE to a retired couple 2 yrs ago and they phoned me today to report that the car suddenly goes into Reverse when being driven in FWD. They assure me that they did not touch the FWD/REV switch. I checked the switch and it is OK. Have not come across this issue before but they say its not the first time its happened. Anyone had any experience of this.

If the reverse input is shorted (resulting in both FWD and REV active at once) I believe the stock Morric control will prioritize REV. How does it act when the REV switch is set instead?

I think an intermittent short circuit cud well be the issue failing any other cause as the problem is random. It does go backwards in reverse.
