Default G1 pokes along

I have a yamaha g1 cart and until receintly ran very fast. Now it takes off good but it just pokes along. I know that it does not have 1st, 2nd, and 3rd gear but its as if your driving in 2nd gear and need to shift to 3rd but it does not. The engine revs up appropriately but no speed. Does anyone have any idea what may be the problem?

I'm not very mechanically inclined, I'm trying to get some ideas for a friend who I think could fix the problem. The answer is I don't no.

Welcome to the forum ghross!!

Have your friend check the front / rear clutches and the drive belt.
