2006 ST clays cart No Start
I have a 2006 Clays cart with a 350 engine with 33 hours on it. Last season it ran fine and at the end of the year we used the cart and it ran fine the next day it would not start. I adjusted the valves the exhaust were real tight, replaced the fuel filter and hoses it seems to pump ok. Don’t have a spark tester but put a screwdriver in the plug socket and it jumped a good spark. Any ideas?
I am guessing it is the carburetor I have looked on line and can only one up to 2003 even on shopezgo.com will that work on a 2006? Thanks Mike |

How are the spark plugs ? Are they gas fouled out ? These MCI engines will flood the plugs if you pull the choke. They start without the choke much better. Remove the plugs and tell us what they look like. Wet ?

The cart is at our camping site and I am not sure when we will get back there but I wanted to get parts together before we go back.
So I will order plugs just in case. |

Since it's a 2006, it's probably time for a valve adjustment.Take feeler gauges, and a compression tester with you too.
Edit. Only 33 hours. Probably not valves. Lack of use. Maybe a good carburetor cleaning. |

I wouldn't be buying any parts other than spark plugs just yet. I have gas fouled the plugs on more than one of these engines when I pulled the choke. My bet is the spark plugs but will wait and see what you find. If that is not the problem then remove air box . Take a picture of the way everything mounts on the baffle so you will get it back on correct. They get confusing it you have never removed one before. You can also try this. Leave key off and push gas pedal. Make sure the throttle is opening all the way up. I would take a 10 mm socket and ratchet with me along with a 10 mm end wrench , of course a screwdriver. Maybe pick up a can of starting fluid. If your plugs don't fix it then spray a small amount in throat of carb and see if it tries to run. If it runs then yes the carb is probably stopped up which I doubt. The carb might need cleaning if your gas smells old |

Re: 2006 ST clays cart No Start
I have a second matching cart at home so I pulled the plugs to see the part number and the plugs were very black and crusty and this one only has 13 hours on it. So I will replace the plugs in both carts. So just keep cranking it without using the choke?
Also if I were to replace the carb, will the 2003 with a flat air cleaner carb, fit a 2006 with the round air cleaner? Thanks |

Plugs should be ngk bpr2es, 4 or 5. 2 is the hottest. 4 and 5 are the most common here. If they don’t run much I would agree that the carb cleaning might help the most. Also do you have issues with critters plugging up holes? Mud wasps here are brutal plugging up small holes. Exhaust might be plugged

The carburetors will interchange fine. Try giving yours a good cleaning with some spray carb cleaner . Make sure all the passages are clear
