Default 1988? EZGO Turf Truck - looking for info and manuals

Hi! New to the forum. Great place you got here. A lot of good info too!

Someone gave me this Turf Truck. We use it to get around the local private airport I fly out of. I don't see much on this model but I've been able to get some basic info. Looks like 1988 model with 2PG motor, again thanks to a few posts I've been able to find on here. It needs some TLC to get it running again.

I am in the process of replacing the upper and lower head gasket. We'll see how the compression is and go from there.

I cleaned the carb but the throttle cable and linkage is a bit messed up on this thing. I am looking for a picture or manual that might help me put it back together correctly. I think I'm missing a spring at at min and the throttle cable is not bolted to anything.

Any help on the carb and linkage would be greatly appreciated!!

I've never worked on a Turf Truck model but I assumed they would be the same as an 88 Marathon, the first thing I noticed is that carb is a pre-88. Looks just like my 85 but they changed the carb in 88 on the Marathon, I also see the muffler is a pre-88 too. So that's good, it matches the carb. Apparently they didn't change the two in 88 on the Turf Truck.....

I will say;
The choke cable looks fine.

The throttle cable set up is an 88 design and looks fine too, that spring at the mount is there to keep it from backfiring.

The gov cable looks fine but most all of us remove it for better performance.

The 'what goes here' hole is for an oil injection cable, but I see you don't have oil injection so you must be pre-mixing. Right? Another good thing in my opinion, some peeps remove them and some keep them.

You ARE premixing right??......

It wants exactly 128:1 (1oz 2-cycle oil per 1 gallon gas), no more no less. Use only regular low octane gas, not premium or any of that high $$$ avgas either. It won't make it fly

Yes premix, but 128:1 seems really low.

It is probably 89 oct. no lead though. I'll keep an eye on the plug after I fix the head gaskets.

Are you sure it will not fly? Maybe if I lighten the load a bit and put a really really big wing on it lol

I know 128:1 seems really lean, I thought so too 20 years ago when I first got mine. But it is what it is and what the engine manufacturer calls for, even 89 octane is pushing it. 85-87 is great, and cheaper.....

Big big wing with a lot of big big downhill you might make a short glider out of it Wilber

Love the diamond plate, needs a lift, larger wheels and tires.

Keep in mind if you are tearing it apart a big problem with the 2 cycles are the crank seals.

Post #22. You will need the 85 manual for the carburetor, and muffler. Use the 88 manual for the wiring.
